<etym xml:lang="ru">По-видимому, мн. ч. от <ref type="xr" target="#entry_byn"/>
‘основание’ и np., <hi rendition="#rend_italic">bynt(æ)</hi>, взято за основу и снабжено суффиксом -<hi rendition="#rend_italic">on</hi>,
упрощением → <hi rendition="#rend_italic">byntong</hi> → <hi rendition="#rend_italic">bynton</hi>.</etym>
<etym xml:lang="en">It is probably the plular form of the word <ref type="xr" target="#entry_byn"/> ‘foundation’ etc., <hi rendition="#rend_italic">bynt(æ)</hi> is taken as a basis and
is supplied with the suffix -<hi rendition="#rend_italic">on</hi> which has an adverbial meaning in this case
(like in <ref type="xr" target="#entry_znon"/> ‘yesterday’, <ref type="xr" target="#entry_særdygon"/> ‘summer’ etc.). Additing the suffix -<hi rendition="#rend_italic">оn</hi> to
the plural form is a rare occurence. This is why we have to consider another
possibility: <hi rendition="#rend_italic">bynton</hi> initially was a postpositional costruction <hi rendition="#rend_italic">bynty ong</hi>
‘to the basis’ ‘to the roots’ and then was simplified → <hi rendition="#rend_italic">byntong</hi> →
<hi rendition="#rend_italic">bynton</hi>.</etym>
