оказалось ни одного грамотного человека, кто мог бы прочитать <mentioned xml:lang="os"><gloss><q rendition="#rend_doublequotes">пеструю бумагу</q></gloss> (<phr>qūlon
gæxxætt</phr>)</mentioned> императрицы. Тогда они послали людей в аул Нар к <mentioned xml:lang="os"><gloss>Карадзау Мамиеву</gloss> (<phr>Mamiaty Qaraʒaw</phr>)</mentioned>,
который был известен как <mentioned xml:lang="os"><phr>xædḱīnyg læg</phr>

based on historical facts. The Kurtatin elders received an invitation from Catherine II to
a reception in the village of Ekaterinogradskaya. Unfortunately, there was not a single
literate person among the Kurtatins who could read the Empress's <mentioned xml:lang="os"><gloss><q rendition="#rend_doublequotes">colorful paper</q></gloss> (<phr>qūlon
gæxxætt</phr>)</mentioned>. Then they sent people to the Nar aul to <mentioned xml:lang="os"><gloss>Qaradzau Mamiaty</gloss> (<phr>Mamiaty Qaraʒaw</phr>)</mentioned>,
who was known as a <mentioned xml:lang="os"><phr>xædḱīnyg læg</phr>
<gloss><q rendition="#rend_doublequotes">literate man</q></gloss></mentioned>, and asked
