<def xml:lang="en">the name of a miracle chalice (ladle) in the heroic <q rend="#rend_doublequotes">Nart</q> epos of the Ossetians. The chalice was a <q rend="#rend_doublequotes">determinant</q> of merit for the Narts. The chalice went up
to someone who had accomplished great feats and told about them in an honest manner at
the Nart feast. It is also called <mentioned xml:lang="os-x-iron"><w>Nartamongæ</w></mentioned> or simply <mentioned xml:lang="os-x-iron"><w>Amongæ</w></mentioned>.</def>

<w>arta-</w></mentioned>. — <name>Bailey</name> (<bibl><ref type="bibl" target="#ref_TPhS"/>
<biblScope>1960, стр. 73 сл.</biblScope></bibl>) считает, что в первой части <oRef/>
предпочтительнее видеть не <mentioned xml:lang="ira"><w type="rec">vāčya-</w></mentioned>,
а <mentioned xml:lang="ira"><w type="rec">vāθya-</w>
<gloss><q>сильный</q></gloss></mentioned>. — По свой функции чаша <oRef>Уацамонга</oRef>
близка к <q rend="#rend_doublequotes">кубку героев</q> у скифов. <quote><q rend="#rend_doublequotes">Раз в год каждый правитель в своем округе приготовляет сосуд

boiled whenever a hero told a true story about his feats (<bibl><ref type="bibl" target="#src_ИАС"/>
<biblScope>I 241242</biblScope></bibl>). In the first part there is the word <ref type="xr" target="#entry_ard"><w>ard</w></ref>, which now means <q>oath</q>, but was
previously a cult term like <mentioned xml:lang="x-oldirn"><lang/>
<w>arta-</w></mentioned>. — <name>Bailey</name> (<bibl><ref type="bibl" target="#ref_TPhS"/>
<biblScope>1960, p. 73 ff.</biblScope></bibl>) thinks that the first part of <oRef/> is
not <mentioned xml:lang="ira"><w type="rec">vāčya-</w></mentioned> but rather <mentioned xml:lang="ira"><w type="rec">vāθya-</w>
<gloss><q>mighty</q></gloss></mentioned>. — In its function the <oRef>Wacamonga</oRef>
is similar to <q rend="#rend_doublequotes">the cup of the heroes</q> of the Scythians.
