почве слово получило атрибутивное употребление: <mentioned xml:lang="trk"><phr>arǧamaq at</phr>

The semantic shift from horses to dogs should be explained by the fact that the
word had already developed an attributive function in Turkic: <mentioned xml:lang="trk"><phr>arǧamaq at</phr>
<gloss><q>thoroughbred horse</q></gloss></mentioned>; cf. also the Russian
use of the word <mentioned xml:lang="ru"><w>borzoj</w>
<gloss><q>swift</q></gloss>, <gloss><q>sighthound</q>
(<q>borzoi</q>)</gloss></mentioned> as an epithet for both dogs and
horses. The semantic shift was facilitated by the fact that the same quality,
namely agility, is appreciated in horses and in dogs. Cf. <mentioned corresp="#mentioned_d3010e199" xml:lang="ar" extralang="fa"><lang/>
