Перенос значения с лошади на собаку следует объяснять тем, что уже на тюркской

почве слово получило атрибутивное употребление: <mentioned xml:lang="trk"><phr>arǧamaq at</phr>

||
употребление слова <mentioned xml:lang="ru"><w>борзой</w></mentioned> как

||
эпитета одинаково и собаки и лошади. Передвижению значения способствовало то,

что в аргамаке и в борзой ценится одно и то же качество: резвость. Ср.

The semantic shift from horses to dogs should be explained by the fact that the
|
||
word had already developed an attributive function in Turkic: <mentioned xml:lang="trk"><phr>arǧamaq at</phr>
|
||
<gloss><q>thoroughbred horse</q></gloss></mentioned>; cf. also the Russian
|
||
use of the word <mentioned xml:lang="ru"><w>borzoj</w>
|
||
<gloss><q>swift</q></gloss>, <gloss><q>sighthound</q>

||
horses. The semantic shift was facilitated by the fact that the same quality,
