Müller%s (<bibl><author>Müller</author><ref type="bibl" target="#ref_WZKM"/><biblScope>VI 184</biblScope></bibl>) возводил к <hi rendition="#rend_italic">*рауаstāna</hi> (от
<hi rendition="#rend_italic">*payah-</hi> ‘молоко’), что вызывает возражения (<bibl><ref type="bibl" target="#ref_Hübschmann._PSt."/><biblScope>41</biblScope></bibl>). Для
осетинского <hi rendition="#rend_italic">fæzdon</hi> всего удобнее было бы исходить из <hi rendition="#rend_italic">*payaz-dāna-</hi>
буквально „вместилище (<hi rendition="#rend_italic">dāna-</hi>) молока (<hi rendition="#rend_italic">payaz-</hi>)“ или из <hi rendition="#rend_italic">*pat-dāna</hi> с
последующей закономерной диссимиляцией <hi rendition="#rend_italic">td</hi><hi rendition="#rend_italic">zd</hi>. Ср. <ref type="xr" target="#entry_fædæg"/> ‘сосок’.%n<bibl><ref type="bibl" target="#ref_Миллер_Вс._ОЭ"/><biblScope>II 86</biblScope></bibl>. —

Müller%s (<bibl><author>Müller</author><ref type="bibl" target="#ref_WZKM"/><biblScope>VI 184</biblScope></bibl>) traced it back to <hi rendition="#rend_italic">*рауаstāna</hi>
(from <hi rendition="#rend_italic">*payah-</hi> milk), what is objectionable (<bibl><ref type="bibl" target="#ref_Hübschmann._PSt."/><biblScope>41</biblScope></bibl>). For
Ossetic <hi rendition="#rend_italic">fæzdon</hi> it would be most convenient to proceed from <hi rendition="#rend_italic">*payaz-dāna-</hi>
literally container (<hi rendition="#rend_italic">dāna-</hi>) for milk (<hi rendition="#rend_italic">payaz-</hi>) or from <hi rendition="#rend_italic">*pat-dāna</hi>
with the following regular dissimilation <hi rendition="#rend_italic">td</hi><hi rendition="#rend_italic">zd</hi>. Cf. <ref type="xr" target="#entry_fædæg"/> ‘сосок’.%n<bibl><ref type="bibl" target="#ref_Миллер_Вс._ОЭ"/><biblScope>II 86</biblScope></bibl>. —
