<hi rendition="#rend_italic">ar</hi>, а не <hi rendition="#rend_italic">ir</hi>). Может быть, из <hi rendition="#rend_italic">*piθra-na</hi>, от <hi rendition="#rend_italic">pitu-</hi> ‘пища’, ‘мясо’

(см. <ref type="xr" target="#entry_fyd"/> | <hi rendition="#rend_italic">fid</hi> ‘мясо’). В этом случае

|||
|

<hi rendition="#rend_italic">firton</hi> означало бы собственно „мясной (скот)“, „(скот) доставляющий

It may be from <hi rendition="#rend_italic">*piθra-na</hi>, from <hi rendition="#rend_italic">pitu-</hi> ‘food’, ‘meat’ (see <ref type="xr" target="#entry_fyd"/> | <hi rendition="#rend_italic">fid</hi> ‘meat’). In this case <hi rendition="#rend_italic">firton</hi>
|

would have meant ‘meat (cattle)’, ‘(cattle) which gives food’.</etym>
