<hi rendition="#rend_italic">ar</hi>, а не <hi rendition="#rend_italic">ir</hi>). Может быть, из <hi rendition="#rend_italic">*piθra-na</hi>, от <hi rendition="#rend_italic">pitu-</hi> ‘пища’, ‘мясо’
(см. <ref type="xr" target="#entry_fyd"/> | <hi rendition="#rend_italic">fid</hi> ‘мясо’). В этом случае
<hi rendition="#rend_italic">firton</hi> означало бы собственно „мясной (скот)“, „(скот) доставляющий
пищу“.</etym>

semantic and phonetic points of view (<hi rendition="#rend_italic"></hi> gives <hi rendition="#rend_italic">ær</hi>, <hi rendition="#rend_italic">ar</hi> in Ossetic, not
<hi rendition="#rend_italic">ir</hi>). It may be from <hi rendition="#rend_italic">*piθra-na</hi>, from <hi rendition="#rend_italic">pitu-</hi> food, meat (see <ref type="xr" target="#entry_fyd"/> | <hi rendition="#rend_italic">fid</hi> meat). In this case <hi rendition="#rend_italic">firton</hi>
would have meant meat (cattle), (cattle) which gives food.</etym>
