хазар, которые, исповедуя иудейство, должны были усвоить еврейскую
религиозно-ритуальную терминологию. Заимствование произошло в тот период, когда
в осетинском не было еще согласного <hi rendition="#rend_italic">q</hi> и он систематически заменялся в
заимствованиях согласным <hi rendition="#rend_italic">k</hi>; ср. <ref type="xr" target="#entry_ḱyzg"/>
‘девушка’ (тоже, быть может, из хазарского), <ref type="xr" target="#entry_akkag"/> ‘достойный’.%n<bibl><ref type="bibl" target="#ref_ОЯФ_I"/><biblScope>331 сл</biblScope></bibl>.</etym>

from the Khazars, who should have learnt Jewish religious ritual terminolody,
since they practiced Judaism. The borrowing happened it the period when Ossetic
did not have the consonant <hi rendition="#rend_italic">q</hi> and it systematically was changed to the
consonant <hi rendition="#rend_italic">k</hi> in borrowings; cf. <ref type="xr" target="#entry_ḱyzg"/> girl
(maybe it is also from Khazar), <ref type="xr" target="#entry_akkag"/>
