Впоследствии вместо тисса фигурировали елка (д. <ref type="xr" target="#entry_naz"><phr>nazuj xist</phr></ref>) или верба, но название удержалось
старое. Обычай связан, как считают, с памятью о пальмовых ветвях, которыми жители
Иерусалима приветствовали Христа. Отсюда <mentioned xml:lang="de"><lang/>
<w>Palmsonntag</w></mentioned>.</etym>
<etym xml:lang="en">Literally <q rendition="#rend_doublequotes">offering (<ref type="xr" target="#entry_xæssyn"><w>xæssæn</w></ref>) of yew branches (<ref type="xr" target="#entry_zaz"/>)</q>; see <ref type="xr" target="#entry_zaz"/> and <ref type="xr" target="#entry_xæssyn"/>. Subsequently, instead of a yew, a spruce appeared
(Digor <ref type="xr" target="#entry_naz"><phr>nazuj xist</phr></ref>) or willow, but the
old name was retained. The custom is believed to be associated with the memory of the palm
branches with which the inhabitants of Jerusalem greeted Christ. From it there is
