(<hi rendition="#rend_italic">tong</hi>)". Элемент *<hi rendition="#rend_italic">æx</hi> мы находим с тем же значением в <ref type="xr" target="#entry_æǧnæg"/> (из <hi rendition="#rend_italic">æx</hi>-<hi rendition="#rend_italic">næg</hi>) ‘застежка’, <hi rendition="#rend_italic">æx</hi>-<hi rendition="#rend_italic">kænyn</hi>
‘запирать’ [см. <ref type="xr" target="#entry_æxkænyn"/> ]. Предполагая частое в
осетинском языке выпадение <hi rendition="#rend_italic">r</hi> перед согласным, мы восстанавливаем *<hi rendition="#rend_italic">æx</hi> в
*<hi rendition="#rend_italic">ærx</hi> и относим сюда же д. <ref type="xr" target="#entry_ærxu"/> ‘запертый’,
<ref type="xr" target="#entry_arx"/> ‘сук’, <ref type="xr" target="#entry_ærxæg"/> ærxæg ‘сустав’ и, может быть, <ref type="xr" target="#entry_arkʼaw"/> ‘клещи’. Дальнейшее см. под <ref type="xr" target="#entry_æxkænyn"/>. Что касается второй части — <hi rendition="#rend_italic">tong</hi>, то, хотя
она отдельно не сохранилась, значение ее устанавливается бесспорно, как из
сопоставления с <hi rendition="#rend_italic">dymi</hi>-<hi rendition="#rend_italic">tong</hi> „хвостовый ремень“ (может быть, также <ref type="xr" target="#entry_artʼæng"/> ‘ременная веревка’), так и из иранских

<etym xml:lang="en">The composition <hi rendition="#rend_italic">æx</hi>-<hi rendition="#rend_italic">tong</hi>, literally fastening (<hi rendition="#rend_italic">æx</hi>)
the belt(<hi rendition="#rend_italic">tong</hi>). The element *<hi rendition="#rend_italic">æx</hi> with the same meaning is found in <ref type="xr" target="#entry_æǧnæg"/> (from <hi rendition="#rend_italic">æx</hi>-<hi rendition="#rend_italic">næg</hi>) fastener,
<hi rendition="#rend_italic">æx</hi>-<hi rendition="#rend_italic">kænyn</hi> lock [see <ref type="xr" target="#entry_æxkænyn"/> ].
Assuming that r often drops out before a consonant in Ossetic, we reconstruct
*<hi rendition="#rend_italic">æx</hi> in *<hi rendition="#rend_italic">ærx</hi> and refer here the following words: Digor <ref type="xr" target="#entry_ærxu"/> locked, <ref type="xr" target="#entry_arx"/>
branch, <ref type="xr" target="#entry_ærxæg"/> joint and maybe <ref type="xr" target="#entry_arkʼaw"/> pincers. The further see in <ref type="xr" target="#entry_æxkænyn"/>. As for the second part, <hi rendition="#rend_italic">tong</hi>, even
that is not in usage anymore, its meaning can be restored for certain, as by
comparing it with <hi rendition="#rend_italic">dymi</hi>-<hi rendition="#rend_italic">tong</hi> "tail belt" (may be also <ref type="xr" target="#entry_artʼæng"/> belt rope), and by finding Iranian
correspondences: cf. <mentioned corresp="#mentioned_d4031e156" xml:id="mentioned_d4031e217" xml:lang="fa"><lang/>
