равнине еще и осенью, перед севом озимых. К этому дню варилось пиво, пеклись пироги.
Хозяин или кто-либо из старших мужчин после молитвы спрашивал: <q rendition="#rend_doublequotes">Чего вы просите?</q>. Получив ответ: <q rendition="#rend_doublequotes">Хлеба! хлеба!</q>, — он бросал окружающим зерна, которые
те ловили в полы и шапки. В горной Осетии праздник сопровождался и другими обрядами
магического порядка. Один из юношей надевал шубу наизнанку и мохнатую папаху. Взяв в одну
руку треугольный пирог, в другую — чашу с пивом, старший произносил молитву Уацилле о
ниспослании хорошего урожая. Затем выливал пиво на голову юноши и, обращаясь к молодым,
говорил: <q rendition="#rend_doublequotes">Чего просите?</q>. Те восклицали громко: <q rendition="#rend_doublequotes">Хор, хор!</q> (<q rendition="#rend_doublequotes">Хлеба!
хлеба!</q>). По этому возгласу праздник зовется также праздником <w>Xor-xor</w> или
<w>Xory-bon</w>

day, beer was brewed, pies were baked. The host or one of the older men would ask after

<q rendition="#rend_doublequotes">Bread! bread!</q>, — he threw grains around, which
people caught in the

and hats. In mountainous Ossetia, the holiday was accompanied by other rituals of a
magical order. One of the young men put on a fur coat inside out and a shaggy hat. Taking
a triangular pie in one hand and a bowl of beer in the other, the elder prayed to Uacilla
for a good harvest. Then he poured beer on the young mans head and, turning to the young
people, said: <q rendition="#rend_doublequotes">What are you asking for?</q>. They shouted
out loud: <q rendition="#rend_doublequotes">Xor, Xor!</q> (<q rendition="#rend_doublequotes">Bread! bread!</q>). Because of this exclamation, the
holiday is also called <w>Xor-xor</w> or <w>Xory-bon</w>
