ny-vænd-yn [см. <ref type="xr" target="#entry_nyvændyn"/>] ‘наматывать основу
для тканья’. Суффикс -<hi rendition="#rend_italic">æn</hi> (<mentioned corresp="#mentioned_d230e270" xml:id="mentioned_d230e141" xml:lang="x-oldirn"><lang/>
<w>-ana</w></mentioned>) образует отглагольные имена со значением орудия или
предмета, которым что-либо делается: <ref type="xr" target="#entry_kʼaxæn"/>
‘кирка’ (от <ref type="xr" target="#entry_kʼaxyn"/> ‘копать’), <ref type="xr" target="#entry_wasæn"/> ‘свисток’ (от <ref type="xr" target="#entry_wasyn_1"/>
‘свистеть’) и т. п. (<bibl><ref type="bibl" target="#ref_РОсл."/><biblScope>593</biblScope></bibl>). <hi rendition="#rend_italic">Bændæn</hi>, стало быть, — „то, чем
вяжут“. Живое аналогичное образование от <ref type="xr" target="#entry_bæddyn"/>
звучит <ref type="xr" target="#entry_bæddæn"/> ‘повязка’ и воспринимается как
совершенно отличное от <hi rendition="#rend_italic">bændæn</hi> слово, хотя они образованы от одного и того же
глагола, но на разных ступенях его развития. См. <ref type="xr" target="#entry_bæddyn"/>. Ср. <ref type="xr" target="#entry_nyvændyn"/>, а
также <ref type="xr" target="#entry_æmbond"/> ‘ограда' и <ref type="xr" target="#entry_nyvond"/> ‘жертва’. В значении ‘веревка’ и т. п., помимо

<hi rendition="#rend_italic">nd</hi><hi rendition="#rend_italic">dd</hi> is found in the Ossetic word <ref type="xr" target="#entry_bæddyn"/> (from *<hi rendition="#rend_italic">bænd</hi>-<hi rendition="#rend_italic">yn</hi>) bind, and the stem
without assimilation but with the transition <hi rendition="#rend_italic">b</hi><hi rendition="#rend_italic">v</hi>, — is found in the
word <hi rendition="#rend_italic">ny</hi>-<hi rendition="#rend_italic">vænd</hi>-<hi rendition="#rend_italic">yn</hi> [see <ref type="xr" target="#entry_nyvændyn"/>]
wind fabric for weaving. The suffix -<hi rendition="#rend_italic">æn</hi> (<mentioned corresp="#mentioned_d230e141" xml:id="mentioned_d230e270" xml:lang="x-oldirn"><lang/>
<w>-ana</w></mentioned>) derives deverbal nouns meaning an instrument or an
object which makes something: <ref type="xr" target="#entry_kʼaxæn"/> pick
(from <ref type="xr" target="#entry_kʼaxyn"/> dig), <ref type="xr" target="#entry_wasæn"/> whistle (from <ref type="xr" target="#entry_wasyn_1"/> whistle) etc. (<bibl><ref type="bibl" target="#ref_РОсл."/><biblScope>593</biblScope></bibl>). Thus, <hi rendition="#rend_italic">bændæn</hi> is “something
with which one binds”. An analogous common derivate from <ref type="xr" target="#entry_bæddyn"/> sounds like <ref type="xr" target="#entry_bæddæn"/>
bandage and is perceived as completely different from <hi rendition="#rend_italic">bændæn</hi>, however
these two words were derived from the same verb but during different time of its
development. See <ref type="xr" target="#entry_bæddyn"/>. Cf. <ref type="xr" target="#entry_nyvændyn"/>, and also <ref type="xr" target="#entry_æmbond"/>
fence' and <ref type="xr" target="#entry_nyvond"/> sacrifice. Apart from
