(<hi rendition="#rend_italic">ba</hi> + <hi rendition="#rend_italic">i-zaj-un</hi>) ‘остаться’: „те, кто остались“ →‘потомство’. Образовано
от прош. причастия <hi rendition="#rend_italic">bajzad</hi> с помощью суффикса -<hi rendition="#rend_italic">ag</hi>, с закономерным
ослаблением гласного (<hi rendition="#rend_italic">а</hi><hi rendition="#rend_italic">æ</hi>) и удвоением <hi rendition="#rend_italic">d</hi>. Такими же точно
образованиями, в морфологическом отношении, являются <ref type="xr" target="#entry_q0yddag"/> ‘дело’, <ref type="xr" target="#entry_amættag"/>
‘жертва’, <ref type="xr" target="#entry_ʒyrddag"/> ‘спорный’ и др. См. <ref type="xr" target="#entry_zajyn"/> | <hi rendition="#rend_italic">izajun</hi> ‘оставаться’.</etym>
<etym xml:lang="en">From <ref type="xr" target="#entry_bazzajyn"/> | <hi rendition="#rend_italic">bajzajun</hi>
(<hi rendition="#rend_italic">ba</hi> + <hi rendition="#rend_italic">i-zaj-un</hi>) remain: “those who remained” → descendants. The word
is formed from the past participle <hi rendition="#rend_italic">bajzad</hi> with the suffix -<hi rendition="#rend_italic">ag</hi>, with a
regular vowel weakening (<hi rendition="#rend_italic">а</hi><hi rendition="#rend_italic">æ</hi>) and doubling of <hi rendition="#rend_italic">d</hi>. The same
morphological constructs are the following words: <ref type="xr" target="#entry_q0yddag"/> deal, <ref type="xr" target="#entry_amættag"/>
victim, <ref type="xr" target="#entry_ʒyrddag"/> disputable etc. See <ref type="xr" target="#entry_zajyn"/> | <hi rendition="#rend_italic">izajun</hi> remain.</etym>
