‘утомляться’, но только с сильным гласным <hi rendition="#rend_italic">а</hi> вместо слабого <hi rendition="#rend_italic">æ</hi>, который мы
находим в живой форме прош. причастия: <hi rendition="#rend_italic">fælmæst</hi>. В лексикализованных формах
прош. причастия мы нередко находим сильную ступень огласовки вместо слабой; см.
<ref type="xr" target="#entry_cawd"/> (вм. <hi rendition="#rend_italic">zynd</hi>, <hi rendition="#rend_italic">amynd</hi>, <hi rendition="#rend_italic">cyd</hi>).
Значения ‘мягкий’, ‘нежный’ — вероятный результат семантической контаминации с

<etym xml:lang="en">A past participle of <ref type="xr" target="#entry_fælmæcyn"/>
get tired, but only with a strong vowel <hi rendition="#rend_italic">а</hi> instead of the weak one <hi rendition="#rend_italic">æ</hi>,
which is found in an existent past participle form: <hi rendition="#rend_italic">fælmæst</hi>. There is often
a strong ablaut grade instead of the weak one in lexicalized past participle
forms; see <ref type="xr" target="#entry_cawd"/> (instead of <hi rendition="#rend_italic">zynd</hi>,
<hi rendition="#rend_italic">amynd</hi>, <hi rendition="#rend_italic">cyd</hi>). The meanings soft, tender is a probable result of the
semantic contamination with <ref type="xr" target="#entry_fælmæn"/> soft. See
