‘самовольный’, ‘внезапный’, д. <ref type="xr" target="#entry_xevast"/> (←
<hi rendition="#rend_italic">xe-fast</hi>) ‘своенравный’. В <hi rendition="#rend_italic">fast</hi> (из <hi rendition="#rend_italic">farst</hi>) выпал <hi rendition="#rend_italic">r</hi> перед
сибилянтом, как в <ref type="xr" target="#entry_tas_1"/> ‘страх’ (из <hi rendition="#rend_italic">*tars</hi>),
<ref type="xr" target="#entry_baz"/> ‘подушка’ (из <hi rendition="#rend_italic">*barz</hi>), <ref type="xr" target="#entry_xæzgūl"/> ‘любовница’ (из <hi rendition="#rend_italic">xærzgul</hi>) и др. Ср.

words are also from it: <ref type="xr" target="#entry_ævast"/> (← <hi rendition="#rend_italic">æ-fast</hi>)
without asking, self-willed, sudden, Digor <ref type="xr" target="#entry_xevast"/> (← <hi rendition="#rend_italic">xe-fast</hi>) wilful. In <hi rendition="#rend_italic">fast</hi> (from
<hi rendition="#rend_italic">farst</hi>) the consonant <hi rendition="#rend_italic">r</hi> fell before the sibilant, as in <ref type="xr" target="#entry_tas_1"/> fear (from <hi rendition="#rend_italic">*tars</hi>), <ref type="xr" target="#entry_baz"/> pillow (from <hi rendition="#rend_italic">*barz</hi>), <ref type="xr" target="#entry_xæzgūl"/> mistress (from <hi rendition="#rend_italic">xærzgul</hi>) etc. Cf. the fall of
