fire’ or ‘fire – the sun’s child’, is derived from <ref type="xr" target="#entry_art"/> with vowel weakening) ‘fire’ and <ref type="xr" target="#entry_xūr"/> | <hi rendition="#rend_italic">xor</hi> ‘sun’. The suffix -<hi rendition="#rend_italic">on</hi> is used here as
|

the patronym suffix (‘Fire Sunson’); this also has sporadic use in present time;
|
||
compare in song of Comaq:: <hi rendition="#rend_italic">Cyryxon Comaq</hi> ‘‘Cyryxson Comaq’. Also in Avesta
|
||
fire is called son of sun-deity, Ahura Mazdy: “<hi rendition="#rend_italic">ātars̀—puθrō Ahurahe Mazdā̊</hi>”.

||
The worship of <hi rendition="#rend_italic">Ærtxūron</hi> — is one of echos of an ancient Ossetic fire cult.

||
