281</biblScope></bibl>). Трудность в том, что <mentioned corresp="#mentioned_d3809e193" xml:id="mentioned_d3809e161" xml:lang="krc-x-balkar"><lang/>
<w>gumux</w></mentioned> не имеет тюркской этимологии и само нуждается в
разъяснении. Может быть, <hi rendition="#rend_italic">kʼumux</hi> ‘тупой’, <ref type="xr" target="#entry_gæmæx"/> ‘лишенный растительности’ вместе с их
балкарскими эквивалентами относятся к группе „изобразительных“ слов,
рассмотренных под <ref type="xr" target="#entry_tymbyl"/>
‘круглый’.%n%n%bЗначение ‘круглый’ выступает, возможно, в kʼ˳ymyxcy | kʼumuxci
‘маленький сыр’ (из kʼumux-cixt „круглый сыр?“): xoxbæsty cæræg adæm xastoj
wæjmæ sæ kʼ˳ymyxcyjy mūrtæ „горные жители приносили на продажу крохи своих

<gloss><q>blunt</q></gloss></mentioned> (Miller refers to <hi rendition="#rend_italic">gəməx</hi> by mistake, which corresponds to another
Ossetic word <ref type="xr" target="#entry_gæmæx"/>, meaning naked, without
greenery/hair<bibl><ref type="bibl" target="#ref_ОЯФ_I"/><biblScope>276,
281</biblScope></bibl>). The difficulty is that <mentioned corresp="#mentioned_d3809e161" xml:id="mentioned_d3809e193" xml:lang="krc-x-balkar"><lang/>
<w>gumux</w></mentioned> does not have a Turkic etymology and needs an
explanation itself. Perhaps <hi rendition="#rend_italic">kʼumux</hi> blunt,
<ref type="xr" target="#entry_gæmæx"/> without greenery/hair together with
their Balkar equivalents are related to a group of “onomatopoeic” words,
considered under <ref type="xr" target="#entry_tymbyl"/> round.%nThe meaning
round possibly appears in <hi rendition="#rend_italic">kʼ˳ymyxcy</hi> | <hi rendition="#rend_italic">kʼumuxci</hi> little cheese (from <hi rendition="#rend_italic">kʼumux-cixt</hi> „round cheese?“): %ixoxbæsty cæræg
adæm xastoj wæjmæ sæ kʼ˳ymyxcyjy mūrtæ%i “highlanders brought little pieces of
their cheese for sale” (<bibl><ref type="bibl" target="#src_Čerm."/><biblScope>72</biblScope></bibl>).</etym>
