nothing more than <foreign>jeu de lésprit</foreign> (<bibl><ref type="bibl" target="#ref_JA"/>
<biblScope>1956, p. 359</biblScope></bibl>). Using this method, we could, for
instance, claim that <mentioned xml:lang="la"><lang/>
<w>senator</w></mentioned> is derived from <mentioned xml:lang="la"><w>persona</w></mentioned>. How exactly? Quite simple. The initial <c>per-</c> in
<mentioned xml:lang="la"><w>persona</w></mentioned> was falsely reanalyzed as a prefix
and dropped. From the remaining <w>sona</w> was formed (by analogy with <mentioned xml:lang="la"><w>donum</w></mentioned><mentioned xml:lang="la"><w>donator</w></mentioned>) <w>sonator</w><w>senator</w> (the vowels <c>o</c> and
