<etym xml:lang="en">The fusion of the preverb <hi rendition="#rend_italic">ær</hi>- with the verb <hi rendition="#rend_italic">tajun</hi> [see
<ref type="xr" target="#entry_tajyn"/>], being in use in the meaning to
melt. The fusion with another preverbs (<hi rendition="#rend_italic">ū</hi>- | <hi rendition="#rend_italic">o</hi>-, <hi rendition="#rend_italic">fæl</hi>-) gives <ref type="xr" target="#entry_ūdajyn"/> | <hi rendition="#rend_italic">odajun</hi> and Digor <ref type="xr" target="#entry_fældajun"/> to wet, to moisten with the same verb root.
It is however possible to trace the word back to *<hi rendition="#rend_italic">θrā</hi>-; compare <mentioned corresp="#mentioned_d3576e179" xml:id="mentioned_d3576e227" xml:lang="oru"><lang/>
