There are other derivates in Ossetic from this root *<hi rendition="#rend_italic">ka(y)</hi>-: Digor <ref type="xr" target="#entry_kīnæ"/>, <hi rendition="#rend_italic">kenæ</hi> revenge, <ref type="xr" target="#entry_cyt"/> | <hi rendition="#rend_italic">citæ</hi> honor and, probably, <ref type="xr" target="#entry_kad"/> fame. The alternation <hi rendition="#rend_italic">æv</hi>- | <hi rendition="#rend_italic">ew</hi>- is the
alternation of two variants of the preverb: <hi rendition="#rend_italic">abi</hi> and <hi rendition="#rend_italic">aibi</hi> (cf. <mentioned corresp="#mentioned_d737e229" xml:id="mentioned_d737e335" xml:lang="peo"><lang/>
