<hi rendition="#rend_italic">kīla-</hi>

indicate the closeness to Old Indic <hi rendition="#rend_italic">kīla-</hi> pointed piece of wood, wedge,
considering <hi rendition="#rend_italic">kin</hi> to be from <hi rendition="#rend_italic">*kil</hi>, and Adyghe forms to be acquired from
Ossetic. However, the change <hi rendition="#rend_italic">l</hi> || <hi rendition="#rend_italic">n</hi> is difficult to justify in this case
for Ossetic, while in Ingush the changee <hi rendition="#rend_italic">n</hi> || <hi rendition="#rend_italic">l</hi> is attested in other
cases as well (Ossetic <ref type="xr" target="#entry_xīn"/> — Ingush <hi rendition="#rend_italic">xilæ</hi>).
Therefore it is more correct to consider Ossetic forms to be borrowed from
Adyghe, and to leave Old Indic <hi rendition="#rend_italic">kīla-</hi> aside.</etym>
