пр.</mentioned>; для отпадения начального <c>w</c> ср. <ref type="xr" target="#entry_Acyrūxs"/>, <ref type="xr" target="#entry_acamongæ"/>, <ref type="xr" target="#entry_yssæʒ"/>, в данном случае отпадению <c>w</c> могла
способствовать в особенности потребность дифференцировать этот глагол от другого
глагола <ref type="xr" target="#entry_waryn"><w>waryn</w>

it to the stem <mentioned xml:lang="ira"><w>var-</w> with the meaning
<gloss><q>to give birth</q></gloss>, <gloss><q>to find</q></gloss>
etc.</mentioned> that is widespread in modern Iranian languages; for elision
of the initial <c>w</c> cf. <ref type="xr" target="#entry_Acyrūxs"/>, <ref type="xr" target="#entry_acamongæ"/>, <ref type="xr" target="#entry_yssæʒ"/>; in this case, the omission of the initial <hi rendition="#rend_italic">w</hi> could have been reinforced by the need to differentiate this verb
from another verb <ref type="xr" target="#entry_waryn_1"><w>waryn</w>
