разъяснение первой части (<hi rendition="#rend_italic">dar</hi>) остается в силе; одно из основных значений
глагола <ref type="xr" target="#entry_daryn"/> — ‘носить одежду’. Что касается
-<hi rendition="#rend_italic">æs</hi>, то это, по-видимому, не суффикс, а остаток слова *<hi rendition="#rend_italic">wæst</hi> ‘одетый’,
‘одежда’ из <hi rendition="#rend_italic">vasta</hi>- (<mentioned corresp="#mentioned_d1491e236" xml:id="mentioned_d1491e179" xml:lang="inc-x-old"><lang/>

‘носильная одежда’. Ср. <mentioned corresp="#mentioned_d1491e256" xml:id="mentioned_d1491e199" xml:lang="psh"><lang/>

<etym xml:lang="en">Ws. <hi rendition="#rend_smallcaps">Miller%s fairly rejects %sHübschmann</hi>s comparison with

suffix iss not clear to us“ (<bibl><ref type="bibl" target="#ref_Миллер_Вс._ОЭ"/><biblScope>III 142</biblScope></bibl>). The clarification of the first
part (<hi rendition="#rend_italic">dar</hi>) proposed by <hi rendition="#rend_smallcaps">Miller</hi> remains in force; one of the main meanings
of the verb <ref type="xr" target="#entry_daryn"/> is wear clothes. As for
-<hi rendition="#rend_italic">æs</hi>, this is apparently not a suffix but the rest of the word *<hi rendition="#rend_italic">wæst</hi>

<hi rendition="#rend_italic">daræs</hi> in this case — wearable or clothing. Cf. <mentioned corresp="#mentioned_d1491e199" xml:id="mentioned_d1491e256" xml:lang="psh"><lang/>
