‘позади’. Во второй части в и. <ref type="xr" target="#entry_arc"/> ‘копье’;
<ref type="xr" target="#entry_bajrag"/>), стало быть <hi rendition="#rend_italic">fæsa-bærcæ</hi> „езда верхом

<etym xml:lang="en">In the first part of both forms there is <ref type="xr" target="#entry_fæs-"/> ‘behind’. In the second part of the Iron word there
is <ref type="xr" target="#entry_arc"/> ‘spear’; thus, <hi rendition="#rend_italic">fæs-arc</hi> literally
means ‘behind the spear’, which was carried behind the back. It is more
difficult to explain Digor<hi rendition="#rend_italic">-bærcæ</hi> in <hi rendition="#rend_italic">fæsa-bærcæ</hi>; it may be related to
<ref type="xr" target="#entry_bærc"/> ‘measure (of gunpowder)’, if it was

carried behind the back; or it may be related to the verb <ref type="xr" target="#entry_8bar"/> ‘ride’ (see <ref type="xr" target="#entry_bajrag"/>),

and thus, <hi rendition="#rend_italic">fæsa-bærcæ</hi> means ‘riding behind (the chief rider)’.</etym>
