(←<hi rendition="#rend_italic">*ham-pāv-</hi>) make rot, <hi rendition="#rend_italic">æm-buj-un</hi> (←<hi rendition="#rend_italic">*ham-pū-</hi>) rot. Thus,
<hi rendition="#rend_italic">fawyn</hi> literally means make something rotten (by abusing, picking on sth.).
