христианской церкви праздник „освящения храма“ (см.: <bibl><author>К.
Кекелидзе</author><biblScope>Иерусалимский канонарь VII в., 1912, стр.
19</biblScope></bibl>). В осетинский слово вошло, возможно, не
непосредственно из греческого (византийского), а через картвельское посредство;

<etym xml:lang="en">From Greek <hi rendition="#rend_italic">εγχαίνια</hi>, literally it means „renewal“, the
Christian church holiday of „blessing of the temple“ was called so (see:
<bibl><author>K. Kekelidze.</author><biblScope>Lectionary of Jerusalem
from the 7th century, 1912, p. 19</biblScope></bibl>). This word entered
Ossetic probably not directly from Greek (Byzantine), but via Kartvelian
instrumentality; cf. <mentioned corresp="#mentioned_d3989e100" xml:id="mentioned_d3989e129" xml:lang="ka"><lang/>
<w>enkenia</w></mentioned>, from which <hi rendition="#rend_italic">enkenis tve</hi> the month of
September, <mentioned corresp="#mentioned_d3989e105" xml:id="mentioned_d3989e134" xml:lang="xmf"><lang/>
<w>ekenia</w></mentioned> id., Mingrelians also call it <hi rendition="#rend_italic">ǧvarala tuta</hi>
