appears justified, cf. <ref type="xr" target="#entry_wajæx"/>, <ref type="xr" target="#entry_wastæn"/>. But the voicing <c>s</c> → <c>z</c> between vowels is not at
|
||
all characteristic for Ossetic, cf. <ref type="xr" target="#entry_fæsal"/>, <ref type="xr" target="#entry_kæsag"/>, <ref type="xr" target="#entry_mæsyg"/>, <ref type="xr" target="#entry_fysym"/> and many others; <oRef>wazal</oRef> from <w type="rec">wasal</w>

would be a unique case.<note type="footnote">In Ossetic <ref type="xr" target="#entry_7xsæz"/> from <mentioned xml:lang="ira"><w>xšwaš</w></mentioned> the

voiced <c>z</c> is due to sibilant dissimilation. The form <w>wasat</w> cited by
