Thus, <hi rendition="#rend_italic">рр</hi> is from <hi rendition="#rend_italic">tp</hi>. Let us remind that in Digor the preverb <hi rendition="#rend_italic">fæ-</hi>,
|
|||
|
|
also tracing back to <hi rendition="#rend_italic">pati-</hi>, causes gemination of the initial consonant
|
|||
|
|
(<bibl><ref type="bibl" target="#ref_ОЯФ_I"/><biblScope>383</biblScope></bibl>), which is undoubtedly explained by the
|
|||
|
|
‘hidden’ presence of the dropped consonant <hi rendition="#rend_italic">t</hi> in <hi rendition="#rend_italic">pati-</hi> (→ <hi rendition="#rend_italic">pat-</hi>).

Thus, <hi rendition="#rend_italic">*pait-pā</hi> → <hi rendition="#rend_italic">fippa-</hi>, as <hi rendition="#rend_italic">*čatbar</hi> → <ref type="xr" target="#entry_cyppar"/> ‘four’.</etym>
