<gloss><q>кричать’</q></gloss>, <gloss><q>каркать</q></gloss></mentioned> и пр.

However, the form <mentioned xml:lang="ira"><w type="rec">xāuya-</w></mentioned> is
unreal, and the acceptable <mentioned xml:lang="ira"><w type="rec">xāwya-</w></mentioned>
would have given rise to <mentioned xml:lang="ira"><w type="rec">xāwya-</w></mentioned>
and not <w>xoj</w>; cf. <ref type="xr" target="#entry_caw"/>, <ref type="xr" target="#entry_faw"/>, <ref type="xr" target="#entry_xaw"/>. It is more likely to be
borrowed from <mentioned xml:lang="ka"><lang/>
<w>qvavi</w>
<gloss><q>crow</q></gloss></mentioned>, like <ref type="xr" target="#entry_cʼoj"><w>cʼoj</w>
<gloss><q>rye</q></gloss></ref> from <mentioned xml:lang="ka"><lang/>
<w>cʼvavi</w></mentioned>. The initial <c>x-</c> (instead of the expected <c>q-</c>) as
well as the shift in meaning should, perhaps, be explained by contamination with
<mentioned xml:lang="mn"><lang/>
<w>xong</w></mentioned> in the combination <mentioned xml:lang="mn"><w>xong kerij-e</w>
<gloss><q>crow</q></gloss></mentioned> (<bibl><ref type="bibl" target="#ref_Lessing"/>
