the many verb derivatives with an inhoative <hi rendition="#rend_italic">s</hi>. The initial <hi rendition="#rend_italic">g</hi> is an
“infantilized” voicing; <hi rendition="#rend_italic">*gælsun</hi><hi rendition="#rend_italic">*gælzun</hi><hi rendition="#rend_italic">gælʒun</hi> — as <hi rendition="#rend_italic">dælzæx</hi>
