<w>Ardoz</w> армянского географа с ос. <oRef>ærdoz</oRef>
<q>поляна</q> и с достаточным основанием усмотрел в области <w>Ardoz</w> Владикавказскую
равнину (<bibl><ref type="bibl" target="#src_ОЭ"/>
<biblScope>III 104108</biblScope></bibl>).<note xml:lang="ru" type="footnote">Нет
оснований видеть в <w>Ardoz</w> искажение гидронима

Caucasus Mountains</q>. <bibl><author>Ws. Miller</author></bibl> correctly identified
the Armenian geographers term <w>Ardoz</w> with Ossetic <oRef>ærdoz</oRef>
<q>clearing</q> and with sufficient reason saw Vladikavkaz plain in the <w>Ardoz</w>
region (<bibl><ref type="bibl" target="#src_ОЭ"/>
<biblScope>III 104108</biblScope></bibl>).<note type="footnote">There is no reason to
see in <w>Ardoz</w> a distortion of the

the North Caucasus were covered with forests, and the area free of them could be called
<w>Ardoz</w><q rendition="#rend_doublequotes">clearing</q></note>
