протетический <hi rendition="#rend_italic">у</hi> находим и в тохар. <hi rendition="#rend_italic">yakwe</hi>. Ср. и. <ref type="xr" target="#entry_jæxs"/> ‘плеть’ при д. <hi rendition="#rend_italic">æxsæ</hi>. — Литовский также сохранил

languages and as for the possible relation between this phenomenon and the

142</biblScope></bibl>; prothetic <hi rendition="#rend_italic">у</hi> is found also in Tocharian
<hi rendition="#rend_italic">yakwe</hi>. Cf. Iron <ref type="xr" target="#entry_jæxs"/> lash and Digor
<hi rendition="#rend_italic">æxsæ</hi>. — Lithuanian also retained the word only in the meaning mare. Cf.
