видимо, не случайна, и с семантической стороны можно говорить о скифо-восточнославянской
изоглоссе. Выделяемый здесь корень <mentioned xml:lang="oos"><w>spā-</w></mentioned>
распознается еще в <ref type="xr" target="#entry_7fsadyn"/>

<etym xml:lang="en">Probably, it goes back to <mentioned xml:lang="oos"><w type="rec">spātaka-</w></mentioned>. There the sound change that resulted in the form <mentioned xml:lang="oos"><w type="rec">fsatæg</w></mentioned> (<c>sp</c><c>fs</c> as in <ref type="xr" target="#entry_7fsad"/>
<gloss><q>troop</q></gloss>, <ref type="xr" target="#entry_7fsonʒ"/>
<gloss><q>yoke</q></gloss> etc.) has occurred, and the initial consonant <c>f-</c> was
dropped as in <ref type="xr" target="#entry_syst"/> (<mentioned xml:lang="oos"><w type="rec">spiš</w></mentioned>) <gloss><q>louse</q></gloss>, <ref type="xr" target="#entry_syʒ"/> (<mentioned xml:lang="oos"><w type="rec">sfiǰau-</w></mentioned>)
<gloss><q>backside</q></gloss>, <ref type="xr" target="#entry_Sidæmon"/> (← <mentioned xml:lang="oos"><w type="rec">Spitamāna</w></mentioned>). The reconstructed form
<mentioned xml:lang="oos"><w type="rec">spāta-</w></mentioned> is a past participle from
<mentioned xml:lang="oos"><w>spā-</w>
<gloss><q>succeed</q></gloss>, <gloss><q>fatten</q></gloss>,
<gloss><q>ripen</q></gloss></mentioned>; cf. <mentioned xml:lang="inc-x-old"><lang/>
<w>sphāta-</w>
<gloss><q>large</q></gloss>, <gloss><q>powerful </q></gloss></mentioned>, <mentioned xml:lang="ru"><lang/>
<w>spelyj</w></mentioned> etc. (<bibl><ref type="bibl" target="#ref_Vasmer._REW"/>
<biblScope>II 707</biblScope></bibl>). The special closeness of the meanings of Ossetic
and Russian words, apparently, isn't accident, and one may suggest it to be a
Scythian-East Slavonic semantical izogloss. The root <mentioned xml:lang="oos"><w>spā-</w></mentioned> may be recognized also in <ref type="xr" target="#entry_7fsadyn"/>
<gloss><q>satiate</q></gloss> (<bibl><ref type="bibl" target="#ref_ИЭС_I"/>
