<hi rendition="#rend_italic">нето-пырь</hi>, видя в первой части (<hi rendition="#rend_italic">нето</hi>) слово ночь (<hi rendition="#rend_italic">nokt</hi>), что явно
неприемлемо по фонетическим соображениям.</etym>

these words and in the Ossetic one probably represents a sound symbolism of the
sound which a bat makes while flying. The initial <hi rendition="#rend_italic">ne</hi>- in Slavic words is an
emphatic particle.<bibl><author>Miklosich</author></bibl> (214) divides the word
as <hi rendition="#rend_italic">neto-pyrь</hi> seeing in the first part (<hi rendition="#rend_italic">neto</hi>) the word <hi rendition="#rend_italic">noč</hi>
(<hi rendition="#rend_italic">nokt</hi>). This is impossible due to phonetic reasons.</etym>
