translation, 1893, p. 108, 258</biblScope></bibl>). <hi rendition="#rend_italic">Kaʒī</hi> play a
significant role in Sh. <hi rendition="#rend_smallcaps">Rustaveli</hi>s poem “The Knight in the Panther's Skin”;
they are depicted as disembodied („<mentioned xml:lang="ka"><w>uxorco</w></mentioned>“)
creatures, skilled in sorcery and military tricks; they kidnap the heroine
Nestan-Daredzhan to their country <hi rendition="#rend_italic">Kaǯeti</hi>; Tariel and his friends seize the
Kajeti fortress and free Nestan.</etym>
